| What are friends for? 为朋友当然应该“两肋插刀”了。这次我们一起来分享几个地道英文句型,全都是书本上没有的哦!精彩不容错过! 1. Wouldn't miss... for the world 在某人邀请你参加某个活动的时候,恰巧你也很期待去参加,就可以用这句话:I wouldn't miss... for the world. 例如: A: Are you going on the school trip? B: I wouldn't miss it for the world. 2. Is he all there? Is he all there? 不是指“他现在在哪里”。句中的all there 是指“脑袋处于正常的状况下”。所以这句话其实是用来质疑对方的脑袋是否正常,比如当你不相信对方干了什么傻事的时候: A: My brother just got arrested for robbing a store. B: You know, I don't think he's all there. 3. ... While you are at it. “既然你在那,就顺便……”,这个句子多用于某人外出在某地,你想借机让对方帮自己带过来一些东西,例如: A: I am going out to rent a movie. B: Ok, please get me one too while you are at it. 4. Hold that thought 字面的意思是“你先保留住那个想法”,实际意思就是“你先等一下(等我做完了什么再说)”,还有一种解释是:你不愿意继续对方的话题,意思就是“以后再说吧”,以次作为谈话的终止。例如: A: What do you think of Charlie? B: Hold that thought. I just want to see this play. 5. What are friends for? 表面上这是一个问句,问“朋友是做什么的”,但其实它是一个陈述句。当你的朋友对你表达感激之情的时候,中文里我们会回答说“为朋友两肋插刀是应该的”,而在英文里就是 What are friends for 了。例如: A: Thanks for keeping an eye on my plants while I was out of town.
